Open-loop geothermal: harness the thermal energy of groundwater
Open-loop geothermal uses groundwater as an energy carrier. The water is pumped, passes through the energy system, then is reinjected into the aquifer while preserving its balance.
This solution is particularly relevant when thermal needs are high and the hydrogeological context allows a robust, well-designed and well-managed project.

How does open-loop geothermal energy work?
How does open-loop geothermal energy work?
Groundwater geothermal works with two separate structures: an abstraction well and a reinjection well. Groundwater is pumped from the aquifer — naturally at 10–14 °C — and its thermal energy is extracted through heat exchange before being reinjected into the same aquifer, far enough away to avoid any thermal short-circuit. The heat pump boosts the captured energy to produce hot water at 35–70 °C depending on the system, with COPs often above 5. The water undergoes no chemical alteration: only thermal energy is taken, preserving the aquifer's hydrogeological balance over the long term.
The benefits of geothermal energy
Profitable investment
A lower energy bill thanks to a free and renewable heat source.
Responsible installation
An environmentally friendly solution that reduces your carbon footprint.
Small footprint
No more oil tanks or pellet storage — geothermal energy works without cluttering your home.
Silent system
No combustion noise or intense ventilation, for optimal acoustic comfort.
Durable equipment
Components designed to last for decades without loss of efficiency.
Minimal maintenance
A turnkey solution for heating and cooling that requires very little maintenance.
Unbeatable efficiency
With a COP far higher than that of an air-source heat pump, your system produces several times more energy than it consumes.
Heating and cooling
The heat extracted from the ground in winter is reused in summer to cool your building, with no air conditioning costs.
